Jasprit Bumrah vs Joe Root: English Wonder Key Battle for England in 2025 Test Series
As England is all set to take on India in a five-Test series in 2025, Michael Vaughan, the former England captain has come out with a daring prophecy that India’s pace ace, Jasprit Bumrah might overwhelm England’s main star batsman Joe Root. Vaughan felt that Bumrah abilities could dictate the fortunes of the series in favor of the Indians.
During the ongoing WTC cycle, Root has been phenomenal scoring 1398 runs in 16 games at an impressive average of 53. 76 of them which five of them are centuries while the other six are half centuries. But when it comes down to it, we are made to believe that soccer is centered on the elites and therefore, they are most likely to be affected than anyone else When you go through different seasons, you will realize that even the players who exercise unrivaled fidelity suffer hard times.
For that, Root could only produce dismal performances of 13 and 12 in two innings during the third Test against Sri Lanka, which England lost by eight wickets. When pondering over Root’s form Vaughan reiterated that the Guy is central to England’s batting.
Vishing, writing in his Telegraph column this week, added: The batting is the crucial thing. All these flashy players around him get flashy fifties. {“This week really hit home to me how important Joe Root is to this batting lineup. His batting is the key. All these flamboyant players around him get flamboyant fift
Even Root who had a good game against India has played 2846 runs with an average score of 58. 08, including ten centuries and eleven half-centuries — Vaughan is somewhat treading carefully on the prospect of the face-off with Bumrah. Bumrah has gotten the better of Root in the 21 times they lock horns at the crease with Root getting out nine times to the Indian spearhead, a situation that may likely pale in the 2025 showdown.
Vaughan also underscored that the English players are going to have to learn how to get themselves out of some wretched positions, and that can’t happen solely relying on Root. He also added that Root has not scored a century in Australia also and failed to do so against Pat Cummins. Vaughan’s advice? With Root, England must find ways of making big scores when he cannot do the same.
