I Ibrahim Zadran ruled out of AFG vs SA ODI Series because of injury

Afghanistan’s top-order batter Ibrahim Zadran won’t be available for the upcoming three-match ODI series against South Africa which is to be held in Sharjah, Afghanistan. Zadran has a left ankle sprain and the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) revealed the news on Thursday. Further deepening the problem of perilous Afghanistan, spinner Mujeeb ur Rahman has been release from duty as he is still nursing a right phalanx sprain.

Consequently, Afghanistan’s selectors has invited domestic talents for this series. That’s why Abdul Malik, an experienced and successful opener, has been included in the team, and Darwish Rasooli comes back to the national team after being in the seven T20I list.

Mujeeb Ur Rahman is in the recovery process after the injury and that’s why he is not selectable, said the ACB chief selector Ahmad Shah Sulimankhil. That is why there are some changes: Ibrahim Zadran will not play because of the ankle sprain received during the New Zealand Test; but there are some very talented young players such as: Abdul Malik and Darwish Rasooli; Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar has also performed well and will replace Mujeeb for this series.

And as for the likes of Rashid Khan, he wasn’t available for the recent ODI series against Ireland. It will be also the first time that Afghanistan and South Africa will be playing 5-match ODI series. The rest of the players continue from the Afghan squad that beat Ireland 2-0 in a series held in March this year.

When South Africa arrived in Afghanistan to play the ODI series, it was a big step for Afghan cricket according to the ACB CEO Naseeb Khan. “They are a top tier side and everyone is excited for this chance.We have done well in the ICC competitions in the recent past, and seek to bring that form to bilateral series cricket.
