After India suffered a defeat in the recently concluded ODI series against Sri Lanka, former Pakistan pacer Junaid Khan has raised questions about their bowling.
The victory for Sri Lanka was their first series win over India since 1997.
Indian batsmen struggled against the Sri Lankan spinners during the series and were dismissed in all three games. Indian bowlers also lacked the venom needed to get wickets on a regular basis.
This Indian bowling attack depends on Jasprit Bumrah too much: Junaid Khan He tweeted, “Would you agree? Wthout Bumrah India’s Bowling is a ZERO….. #INDvSL #SLVSIND
Jasprit Bumrah is currently on a well-earned extended break to manage workload following ICC T20 World Cup 2024 triumph by India.
Rohit Sharma was asked if India had taken things too easy, considering their recent T20 World Cup win and what he described as “not-so-good” form of the Sri Lanka team they faced. However, Rohit shot down those suggestions in no uncertain terms as he said: “It’s a joke. You never take it for granted, playing for India. Sri Lanka was better than us.
Rohit did admit that India had not produced their best cricket during the series, but he felt there were some good signs to take away from this victory – particularly regarding his spinners and middle-order batsmen. He mentioned that outside of the positives, there are things they need to get better at.
India will next take on Bangladesh in a 2-match Test series at home, with Chennai and Kanpur being the venues.
