The last One Day International (ODI) of the three-match thriller series between Ireland Women and Sri Lanka Women is planned for August 20, 2024.
Any optimism harboured by the most optimistic of Irish fans, would have done well to imagine a competitive ODI series result against Sri Lankan Women (and never mind getting over the line). Against all expectations Ireland Women, who are placed 11th in the ICC Womes’s ODI Team Rankings, have won their two matches so far to record first-ever victories over Sri Lanka for them in the 50-over format.
Having already sealed the series and with a gap of just 24 hours between their second match, it is expected that NZ will change a few roles in playing XI for both teams. On the other hand, there is also a probability that both might retain their present team to keep up with the momentum.
Pitch Condition:
The ground at the Civil Service Cricket Club The track offers a fair playing field for bat and ball. Batsmen will bide time at the crease, waiting for their eye to get in before going after bowlers. Pacers have enjoyed a lot of help with the new ball in previous games (and will probably continue doing so), but spinners are expected to come into play especially when they bowl during 2nd innings.
