Tragic Death of Former Sri Lanka Under-19 Cricket Captain Dhammika Niroshana

Dhammika Niroshana, the former captain of Sri Lanka’s Under-19 cricket team, has tragically passed away at the age of 41. He was shot by an unknown assailant outside his residence in Ambalangoda, Sri Lanka. The local police have launched an investigation to find and arrest the person responsible.

Niroshana leaves behind his wife and two children. He had a bright future in cricket, making his mark as a fast bowler who could also contribute with the bat. Niroshana debuted for Sri Lanka’s Under-19 team in 2000 and briefly captained the side in 2002 before retiring from all forms of cricket in 2004.

Although he never made it to the senior national team, Niroshana played alongside future Sri Lankan stars like Angelo Mathews, Upul Tharanga, and Farveez Maharoof at the Under-19 level. He also represented Chilaw Marians CC and Galle CC in the first-class cricket circuit.
