“Lahore: Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam made a special appearance as a guest on the 52nd edition of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) podcast on Sunday.

Speaking on the podcast, Babar stated that the globe places great importance on the matches between India and Pakistan, the two greatest rivals, and that each team has its own fan base.

The most interesting Pak vs India T20 World Cup 2024 match will take place on Sunday (June 9th).

Babar also stated that he wanted his squad to play easy cricket, perform well against India, and have faith in their own skills and hard effort.

“The whole world’s attention is focused on the day when India and Pakistan play. Naturally, nerves will be there, but we need to stay focused, stick to the basics, and play easy cricket. There’s always pressure to perform. The cooler and calmer you stay, the more confident you’ll be in your abilities and hard work, making things easier,” Babar said.

In the podcast, the team’s top-order batsmen discussed their focused attention on the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 for a clear discussion.

They were expressing a lot of excitement about the esteemed competition and stressed the value of competing in a big event.

Despite the recent defeat against England by 2-0, Babar hopes that the Pakistani team will win this trophy. However, for that, the team needs to play top-class cricket in every match.

“I’m excited and pumped up because when you play in a big event, your excitement is different. Playing a World Cup is every cricketer’s goal, and I’m feeling that. Hope always lies in lifting the trophy, but to do that, we need to play top cricket from all aspects,” he added.

Furthermore, Babar agreed that playing in the United States for the first time could be challenging for the team.

“The conditions in America can pose challenges because we are going there for the first time as a national team. To help us with our planning, we are speaking with players there to get information about cricket and tournaments,” he said.

Babar provided insight into a few of Pakistan’s prior results in 2021 and 2022 matches versus Australia and Zimbabwe.

He mentioned that Shahid Afridi’s absence during the T20 World Cup 2022 had a detrimental effect on the team during the final against England.

“In my opinion, we lost the semi-final against Australia (2021); we could have won it. Impact of fielding was very much on that match. If we had taken two or three dot balls in the final stage, the pressure would have mounted on them. But we lost as a team and not because of an individual,” Babar said.

“For me, in 2022, we could have won the match against India, and we should have won it, but they snatched it away. The defeat was so painful against zimbabwe. Because we played good cricket against India, and people were appreciating our performance and fight back.

“Shahin’s [Afridi] injury was significant because he was under pressure [from England] at that time. We were forced to bowl the spinner and it made a difference.”

The Pakistani team will play their first match against America in the T20 World Cup 2024 on Thursday.”
