Rising Pace Bowler Duleep Trophy 24 Highlights

Rising Pace Bowler Duleep Trophy 24/25 with few more months to go for the start of the summer season and then the Australian cricket tour, there are several pace bowlers in fray for selection in the Duleep Trophy. Those two are Vidwath Kaverappa and Harshit Rana who have been showing very good results so far. Rana has done well with the ball and one can particularly state that he has been brilliant in the field of bowling.

Day 1 : Rana proved his mettle with marvellous fluctuations in bounce and seam, thanks to advancement of height and personal pace. His questionable vocal tactics such as changing from angles to lengths also earned him a place in selectors’ list. For example, when Tilak Varma, the No.

3 batter for India A arrived at the pitch, Rana at first bowled short in order to make Varma play an actual shot. This he had to change and go for a fuller lengthwhich he tried to bluffer the batter. Rana showed his bowling genius even though the delivery was a wide one, which possibly would have hit the leg stump.

Rana went on with properly planned skirmishes throughout the day which led to couple of wickets. Next day he continued his good work and took two more wickets thus having a total of four wickets in the match.

His teammate Kaverappa too could show good performance and secured two wickets in 30 runs in 15 over. Still, Kaverappa will be a little slow than Rana in terms of pace but minimizes the loss otherwise, through his sticksmanlike control and movement.

Kaverappa was quite good with his batting initially as he got rid of Mayank Agarwal who fended at a delivery that bounced extra and nipped back. While Kaverappa was able to get only one more wicket after that he was good with his line and length. While people consider him slow, Kaverappa’s accuracy in bowling is something which many teams would like to have in their player.

His maximum speed of delivery was recorded to be about 136 kilometer per hour and his minimum speed being about 122 kilometer per hour. Still, to make the Indian test squad, Kaverappa may have to add couple of bowled miles, which is about 85 mph or, 137-138 kph. Though, his other abilities could still qualify him to be a candidate for the job.

Thus, as of now, Rana appears to be favourite to be included in the team for the Australian tour ahead of Kaverappa. India has also decided on Akash Deep & left-arm pacer Yash Dayal for the first Test against Bangladesh. As the Duleep Trophy continues to be played more pacemen come into contention for test places Rana might do better in Australian conditions.
