Sri Lanka achieved a 2-0 series win against India in their three-match ODI series, marking their first win over India since 1997.
Choosing to bat first, Sri Lanka scored 248-7 on a pitch that spun. Avishka Fernando and Kusal Mendis each scored half-centuries to lead the team.
Pathum Nissanka also contributed with 45 runs, forming an 89-run opening partnership with Fernando.
Axar Patel took the first wicket, but Fernando and Mendis then added 82 runs for the third wicket. Fernando scored a solid 96 runs off 102 balls but missed his fourth ODI century when debutant Riyan Parag dismissed him.
Mendis stayed strong as wickets fell around him. He was joined by Kamindu Mendis, and together they built a crucial 36-run partnership. This effort helped Sri Lanka reach 248-7 in 50 overs.
Kamindu Mendis ended unbeaten on 23 from 19 balls, while Kusal Mendis was out in the 49th over after making 59 runs. Parag finished with 3-54, and Siraj, Patel, Sundar, and Yadav each took one wicket.
India struggled against the Sri Lankan spinners and were all out for just 138 runs in 26.1 overs. Rohit Sharma started well with 35 runs off 20 balls before falling to Dunith Wellalage. Wellalage also dismissed Virat Kohli, who made 20 off 18, leaving India at 71-4.
In the next over, Wellalage took the wickets of Axar Patel (2) and Shreyas Iyer (8), further pushing India into trouble. India crumbled to 101-8. Washington Sundar fought back with 30 runs, but Maheesh Theekshana ended his innings, and Wellalage completed the job in the following over.
Dunith Wellalage led with a remarkable 5-27, while Theekshana and Jeffrey Vandersay each took two wickets.
