St lucia Kings vs Antigua & Barbuda Falcons Highlights

St Lucia Kings Secure Victory Over Antigua and Barbuda Falcons

Chris Green’s impressive all-round performance (48 runs and 4 wickets for 22 runs) was not enough to save the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons as they fell to the St Lucia Kings by 26 runs. The Kings, led by a crucial unbeaten knock from David Wiese, set a competitive target of 153 runs. Wiese’s dynamic 26-ball 43, including three big sixes in the final over, ensured the Kings posted 152 for 8 at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium.

The Kings started strongly with Johnson Charles and Faf du Plessis forming a solid 40-run partnership during the Powerplay. However, Green’s double strike reduced the Kings to 42 for 3. Tim Seifert and Akeem Auguste attempted to stabilize the innings, but they too were dismissed quickly, followed by Bhanuka Rajpaksa, leaving the top six batters out before the death overs.

Shamar Springer’s effective bowling in the 19th over made things tense for the Kings, but Wiese’s explosive final over performance off Kelvin Pitman, which included three towering sixes, boosted the Kings to their final total.

In their chase, the Falcons initially struggled as Kofi James took on Wiese aggressively, but Khary Pierre’s early breakthroughs, including dismissals of Sam Billings and Jahamar Hamilton in the fourth over, put the visitors on the back foot. With the powerplay proving decisive, the Falcons were quickly reduced to 28 for 5. Contributions from Noor Ahmad and Roston Chase further restricted the Falcons’ progress.

Captain Chris Green and Shamar Springer fought back with a 60-run partnership, but their effort was marred by a high required run rate. Despite their resistance, Springer’s run-out in a mix-up with Green proved costly. Green tried to accelerate the innings, but despite a few late hits from Roshon Primus, the Falcons fell short, ending with a total of 126 for 8.
