India C vs India B: Kamboj Shines with 8-For as Duleep Trophy Fixture Ends in a Draw

India C’s match against India B ended in a draw after an exciting performance by Haryana’s seamer, Anshul Kamboj, who took a career-best 8 for 69. Despite Ruturaj Gaikwad’s second half-century of the game, the contest in Anantapur concluded without a decisive result in the 2024-25 Duleep Trophy.

On the final day, India B resumed at 309 for 7, eventually folding for 332, with Kamboj grabbing all three wickets to fall. India B captain Abhimanyu Easwaran’s unbeaten 157 helped reduce their deficit to 193 runs.

India C, with a strong position to push for a win, chose to settle for a draw. They reached 128 for 4 in 37 overs before both captains agreed to end the game. Gaikwad’s 62 and Rajat Patidar’s 42 were crucial contributions, while legspinner Rahul Chahar took 2 for 8.

Kamboj’s performance, coming in just his 15th first-class match, marked a turning point in his career. His 8-wicket haul is now the second-best by a fast bowler in Duleep Trophy history, only behind Debasis Mohanty’s 10 for 46.

Early on, India C lost B Sai Sudharsan to Mukesh Kumar’s bowling. However, Gaikwad and Patidar steadied the innings with a 96-run partnership. Unfortunately, India C lost wickets quickly, with Chahar dismissing both Ishan Kishan and Gaikwad in consecutive overs.

Sandeep Warrier, India C’s pacer, suffered a leg injury and had to leave the field after bowling just over one over. Meanwhile, Manav Suthar, who starred in the first round of matches, remained wicketless with figures of 33-4-85-0. Sarfaraz Khan also struggled, managing just 16 runs.

Overall, despite Kamboj’s heroics, the match lacked the final spark, and the teams shook hands, ending the second Duleep Trophy fixture for India C in a draw.
